Stop in, have a cup of coffee, soda or coffee mixed drink and enjoy the scenery in our Cafe'.  We want you to come in and talk with the birds that are available for adoption, get to know them, find those that are right for you or your family. Every bird has its own unique attitude and personality, so it takes time to develop a relationship with them to see if they will make a great fit.

All adoptions for hooked billed birds at our rescue will require several hours of time spent at our rescue with the bird you would like to adopt, so that you can both get used to each other. We DO NOT adopt birds the same day you apply. Someone at the rescue will make note of the time you arrive and when you leave in order to track the time you spend with your prospective new bird.

Bird adoption is a fairly simple process, although it isn't a fast process. Fill out an application to adopt and we do a house check to make sure the conditions are right for a bird. Some items on the application will give you points, such as having other birds, having a good/safe space for your bird, etc. Some items will deduct points, such a being a smoker, have too many other birds, dogs, cats or other animals.

Adoption fee's will vary depending on the amount of time the bird has been with us, if it has any special needs or has had any special vet treatments, food consumption and based on the size, to name a few.  If the bird comes with a cage, toys, playpen etc., may also make the adoption fee higher. Adoption fee's help us offset expenses for the care of these birds while we try to find them new homes AND ensures that those wanting to adopt a bird can afford the time and money to invest in the long term care of these amazing creatures.

If you are interested in adopting a bird, please fill out the adoption application and return it to us. PLEASE NOTE: We are run 100% on volunteers and sometimes it can take quite some time to review adoption applications.

Please remember: Our application process isn't short. We ask many different questions in order to make sure that your home is a good fit for a specific bird and their personalities and habits. It may even seem like we pry a little too hard at times, but please remember most of these birds have been surrendered to us by a VERY loving family. They give these birds to us, because they rely on our organization to find them a good, perminent home. We want to be thourough enough to find a great match so everyone is happy.
